Christmas at Grandma and Grandpa’s

December 25, 2009

Christmas 2009

We loaded up the car with gear, luggage, Carolyn and Chobe and his crate. What would we do without our large 4Runner?  It was quite a feat to get ourselves organized and out the door. Wow, I am impressed with how well other parents do this! We arrived in time for dinner at least. Awesome homemade tamales (it is a custom in Texas to have tamales on Christmas Eve), guacamole, and queso made by Auntie Alison. YUM! It was absolutely awesome. My sister is extremely talented.  We left Carolyn in the trusty hands of my family and attended the 11pm service. Although both of us were exhausted, it meant a lot for us to be able to attend this service. We both agree that it is the one with the most authentic Christmas experience. The minister who preached the sermon was the same kind man who visited me in the hospital and his sermon had references to his child being born and it totally changing his life, and how the Christ child being born changed everyone’s life. Very appropriate for our situation. It is nice to know that in a few years that Carolyn can join us in these experiences. As the narrator of the Transiberian Orchestra closes his show…. “Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas…….. Merr..rrry Christmas!”
